The Startup MBA: Build a Web App

Launch a site and learn how to “speak tech” (in a weekend).

“It gave me the confidence to start coding and playing around with my own websites. It’s amazing how much you can learn in a weekend.”Mark Hosking: Startup MBA Alum

Learn how to intelligently ‘speak tech’ without becoming a developer.

Learning to properly program takes ages, so that isn’t our goal — and it probably shouldn’t be yours either!

Instead, you’re going to leave this weekend with a clear understanding of all the moving parts of a digital project so you can communicate with and manage the partners or employees who are building it with you.

You’ll also be able to launch and beautify your own simple websites from scratch, which you’ll find to be a hugely useful skill. If you want to launch any sort of business or if you just want to better understand the digital world, then this course is definitely for you.

You don’t need any existing knowledge; just a computer and a lot of coffee. Many of our students walk in knowing next to nothing about websites or tech — and walk away having built a website from scratch.

And better yet, they learn how the technical pieces of a website operate and can intelligently ‘speak tech’ to a technical partner or team member.

This course is a perfect compliment to The Startup MBA: Foundation, which gives you the skills and confidence to build your business the smart way.

Who Is This Course For?

  Non-Technical Founders

You’ve already started a business and you want to be able to speak intelligently about tech with your technical co-founders & teammates.

  Aspiring Entrepreneurs

You want to start a business and know it will involve some technical aspects like a website, mobile app, database, and users.

  Current Employees

You want to expand your skillset and learn the basics of html, css & javascript to keep current with the technical skills required to thrive in a new economy.

What Will You Learn?

How to Code: Create your first webpage with HTML, CSS & Javascript.

How to Prototype: Wire-framing and designing digital products.

How to Launch: Tools for quickly launching websites with minimal effort.

How to Communicate: Finding, hiring, and managing technical teams.

You’ll Also Leave With:

A mobile-compatible site that you built from scratch.

Links to the best tools and resources for simplifying your future projects.

Wireframes & paper prototypes of your idea that you can hand off to developers.

A workbook of tips and reminders.
